Study Of Physical Activity In Pregnancy

Description

Seeking women who have never been pregnant and women who are no more than 24 weeks pregnant for a study of how being active during pregnancy affects balance and muscle control while walking. Both active and sedentary participants are sought.

Overview

Pregnant participants in this study will be asked to go to UMass Amherst for two 2-hour study visits three months apart where sensors will be placed on their body prior to a 30-minute or less physical activity and walk test. Participants will be asked to wear an activity monitor for a week and log their sleep. Participants who have never been pregnant would only have one 2-hour study visit.

What we're hoping for

We are studying how being active during the second and third trimester of pregnancy affects balance and muscles during walking.
