Study Of An Experimental Therapy To Help Deaf People Cope With Alcohol Use And Trauma

Description

Seeking deaf men and women who use ASL to communicate and who have problems with alcohol use and trauma for a study of an experimental therapy to help Deaf people cope with alcohol use and trauma.

Overview

Participants will be randomly assigned to get either the experimental or usual therapy provided as 12 one-hour weekly online individual therapy sessions. Participants will be asked to complete online questionnaires at five time points. People living in a state not served by National Deaf Therapy will automatically be assigned to the usual therapy group.

What we're hoping for

We are studying whether an experimental therapy is better than the usual therapy to help Deaf people cope with alcohol use and trauma. Both therapies will be delivered online using a secure virtual therapy platform.
