Diabetic Foot Ulcer Responses To Wound Healing Study

Description

Seeking adult men and women who have a wound that their medical provider has recommended be treated with a surgical procedure.

Overview

This research is being done to learn about why people with diabetes have difficulty healing lower extremity wounds. In order to study how wound healing occurs in people with diabetes, participant's tissue will be used to study how cells participate in wound healing. Tissue from wound will be collected and stored for research studies. Blood samples will also be collected. Photography may be used to better document the wound.

What we're hoping for

The main question this study is trying to answer is why are foot wounds in people with diabetes difficult to heal compared to similar wounds in people without diabetes?
