Conquering Diseases

A Study Looking To Reduce The Rate Of Postoperative Urinary Retention Rates In Men Who Have Had Thoracic Surgery (Pour)

Description

Seeking men 60 years of age or older who will undergo inpatient thoracic surgery.

Overview

Post-operative urinary retention (POUR) is one of the most common post-operative complications encountered by most surgical specialties, and can increase the length of hospitalization and other complications. This study will look at one possible method for reducing this potential complication.

What we're hoping for

To determine if using tamsulosin prior to thoracic surgery in high risk patients leads to reduced rates of post-operative urinary retention (POUR).
