Study Of An Investigational Drug For Bowel Function Following Surgery To Remove Part Of The Bowel

Description

Seeking men and women who will be undergoing abdominal surgery to remove part of their bowel (bowel resection surgery) for a study of an investigational drug to improve bowel function after surgery. We hope that the investigational drug will prevent a condition called postoperative ileus (POI) or postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction (POGD).

Overview

Participants in this study will be randomly assigned to get either the investigational drug or a placebo (looks like the investigational drug but contains no medication).

What we're hoping for

We are studying whether the investigational drug is safe and effective in improving bowel function following surgery to remove part of the bowel (bowel resection surgery).
