Suicide Risk And Opioid Use Disorders: Administrative Supplement To The System Of Safety (S O S) Study

Description

Seeking adults and children 12 and older who have come to the hospital with either suicide risk or who use opioids in order to learn more about suicide risk and opioid use disorders and the medical care these individuals receive.

Overview

The aim of this study is to understand the relationship between suicide risk and opioid use disorders among patients receiving acute care treatment in emergency department (ED) and inpatient medical settings. Participants will complete an interview during their hospital visit that will include questions about behavioral health, suicide risk, and substance use. For the next 6 months, their medical records and public databases will be reviewed to find out what medical care they may receive.

What we're hoping for

To provide improvements in suicide risk identification, assessment, intervention, and care transition by better understanding the relationship between suicide risk and opioid use disorders among patients receiving treatment.
