Description
Men and women who arrive at the emergency department seeking care for either a medical or psychiatric condition may be asked to participate in a study of a screening survey to identify people at risk for suicide.
Overview
We are studying whether a survey completed by participants using a hand-held tablet can help identify people who are at risk for suicide so that they can be provided appropriate care. Participants will be interviewed by the study team immediately after completing the survey, and again by telephone three more time over the following 6 months to see how they are doing.
What we're hoping for
We hope to develop a tool which will aid in suicide risk detection and clinical decision making in emergency department (ED) settings.
