Safety Planning Intervention To Reduce Short Term Suicide Risk

Description

Study comparing two interventions to reduce suicidal behaviors and thoughts for people admitted to the emergency department or psychiatric unit of the hospital who recently attempted suicide or had suicidal thoughts

Overview

We are studying whether or not two different interventions are helpful in reducing suicidal behaviors and thoughts, encouraging patients to engage in mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, and limiting access to methods which can be used to cause self harm

What we're hoping for

We hope to better understand what suicide prevention interventions work best for different people at risk for suicide or who are having suicidal thoughts.
