Registry To Study Recovery From Stroke Caused By A Blood Clot Blocking Blood Flow To The Brain

Description

People who have been or will be treated with the Embotrap II device to remove blood clots to try to restore blood flow to the brain are being asked to participate in the EXCELLENT registry. This registry will collect and analyze the blood clots removed from the brain with the Embotrap II to study the different types of clots that cause stroke.

Overview

We are studying treatment for ischemic strokes caused by a blood clot that blocks the flow of blood to the brain (ischemic stroke). The treatment uses a medical device to capture and remove blood clots. The study will look at the removed blood clots and your medical information for a period of up to 3 months after the treatment to better understand how different blood clots cause strokes.

What we're hoping for

We hope to identify characteristics of blood clots from people who experience an ischemic stroke to improve treatment for clots that are resistant to standard treatments
